Genesis Rising is a real-time strategy game with many game-play twists. You lead a fleet of organic ships and develop them throughout the campaign, using genes you have harvested from defeated enemies or have bought via trading. You meed numerous alien races and engage them in both conversation and combat. The whole game is set in space, however you can only play on a 2D plane and unlike games like Homeworld and Nexus you can't move ships vertically up or down. It is a basebuilding game and you collect resources similar to most RTS games, but all units can be configured on the fly, and with accordance with current conditions and objectives. Using "genes" you find from ship carcasses, you "mutate" your own in real time giving them new weapons and abilities. If you wish you can replicate any genes you've found or buy more from allies on the map.
